Star Wars at the Space Center

While the majority of our summer vacationing this year involved back and forth trips to Louisiana, we did find time to explore the traveling Star Wars exhibit at the US Space and Rocket Center in Hunstville, Alabama before the summer ended.

We got to see real-life droids, costumes and props used in the making of the Star Wars movies.

Tyler tried posing for pictures, but the droids were just too cool to look away from.

We saw some stormtroopers walking around as we lined up at the entrance (crowd control I guess), but we were unable to catch any for photos... they all look alike anyway, right?

Luke's speeder (excuse the photo coloring, I was working with my pocket camera in a no-flash zone)

While we could only look at Luke's speeder at a distance, the kids were able to drive around a simulated hovercraft such as those designed for the Star Wars films... look at the background and imagine them on Tatooine.

There were a lot of science stations setup incorporating Star Wars effects - here is Alli trying to program her customized R2 unit.

And, Tyler pretending to complete his Jedi training as Luke did, with Yoda on his back.

One of the highlights of the day was entering Docking Bay 94 to jump to lightspeed in the Millenium Falcon.

And since it was the U.S. space center, we did see rockets used in our own galaxy as well.

Look for many more pictures from our trip on snapfish.
And we are back to school next Monday!
