More Snow in Zachary!!

What is this strange town called Zachary that is has brought us December snow in Louisiana for 2 years in a row??? Jay and the kids' trip to Houston was canceled Friday due to an incoming snowstorm (from Houston of all places). We had a good hour or two of beautiful snowfall on Friday night. It was early enough that the kids were able to get out and play in it a little. Then we ran out at the crack of dawn to play some more Saturday morning before the sun melted what was left on the ground.

They couldn't pick snow up off the ground without getting grass in it, so the swingset was the best place to find snow they could eat.

All of the lawns and housetops had a nice layer of snow at sunrise. But the streets and sidewalks were clear enough for southern kids to play confortably without snow gear.

We even managed to build a small snowman,

he was the perfect size for a picnic table centerpiece...

Not quite a Winter Wonderland, but enough snow to make for a VERY exciting Louisiana Christmas!

And what is a pretty snowfall without a fire? Jay spent the afternoon installing our new gas fireplace... very cool (I mean hot)!
