Strawberry Fields

Alli and I were able to tag along for Tyler's last field trip of the year to a Hammond Strawberry Field. Alli was so happy to be included with the big kindergarteners (she always thinks she is just one of the boys when she hangs out with Tyler and Owen).

The kids each received their own container to pick as many strawberries as they could fit in it.

It was hard work,

that required a lot of searching for the perfect strawberries.

Tyler took his time picking strawberries, looking for the largest and cleanest ones on each bush!

Once their buckets were filled, they were told to grab as many strawberries as their hands could hold (by the long stems) to eat with our picnic lunches... YUM!

Look Paw Paw, no whipped cream needed!

Both kids walked around for the rest of the day with strawberry stains on their chins.

There was also strawberry face painting...

And plenty of time to enjoy the playground!

I couldn't get through the day without humming the Beatles' "Strawberry Fields Forever" to myself...

And just as the teacher instructed everyone to line up for the buses, the two Bulot kids found their way back onto the strawberry fields,

to grab one more strawberry for the road!

I'm glad that we got to do this before our Louisiana departure. Perhaps next year we will check out the Peach Orchards of Georgia!
